Design and Engineering

Our engineering department possesses extensive expertise in areas such as design and construction.

Drafting, engineering, and design work is a crucial step in product development.

This is where the important work of developing the conditions to produce a competitive product that meets both the client’s and the end-user’s requirements takes place.

Engineering

From Concept to Production and Assembly

No development project is the same. This is an example of how the process can proceed, from concept to production.

1. Idea

We receive an expression of interest or an inquiry regarding a product idea. This describes the wishes and requirements for the final product. In some cases, there is a clearer picture of the final product’s design and functions.

Once we have received and reviewed an inquiry, we engage in a dialogue with the client to gain a better understanding of the product and the existing requirements.

2. Development Assignment

The next step is for us to provide an estimate for the project, after which the inquirer receives a cost proposal describing the costs and terms for a potential development project. Once the customer has accepted the cost proposal and its terms, Prodma receives a development project.

3. Design

The development process involves several stages. Following a comprehensive dialogue with the client, our design department commences the design and engineering work. Any potential subsystems must be verified.

4. Prototype

The next step typically involves Prodma developing a prototype. Prodma now has a fully developed R department that also includes the capability to produce prototypes. The prototype can be a fully functional product, but it can also be a simplified version of the intended final product.

5. Test and evaluate

The prototype is tested for functionality and performance. Prodma has a fully equipped laboratory for climate and acoustic testing. We can also perform fatigue testing. Prodma compiles the results and conducts a thorough evaluation, followed by a joint evaluation together with the customer.

6. Manufacture and assemble

If the product meets the customer’s requirements and fulfills other expectations, an industrialization process can be initiated as a first step toward manufacturing the product. Once the product has been made producible, which includes several important steps, production can be started.

Industrialization Process

The industrialization process is the process where the product is prepared for production.

Making the product manufacturable encompasses several critical components. Tools must be developed, and a functional assembly flow must be established. In many productions, various types of machining processes are also required. Material intake is another important component that must be in place before production can commence.

Typically, a pilot series is run during the development process. When third-party certification is required, this occurs shortly before or in parallel with the industrialization process.
